For more than a decade, Senator Moore and his legislative colleagues from the South County Area have been working to develop a recreational trail.

The first step in this process was in September of 2004, when the Commonwealth of Massachusetts purchased the abandoned Providence and Worcester Railroad right-of-way that extends nearly 11 miles from Southbridge to Webster.

Shortly after the purchase, Senator Moore convened a regional advisory committee to work with the state's Executive Office of Transportation and Department of Conservation and Recreation to plan for future use of former rail bed.

Advisory Committee
In November 2004, Senator Moore and his legislative colleagues from the South County Area proposed the creation of a regional advisory committee to work with the Executive Office of Transportation and the Department of Conservation and Recreation to plan for future use of the abandoned Providence and Worcester Railroad right-of-way that extends 11 miles from Southbridge to Webster.

The rail bed was acquired by the Commonwealth on 2004 for the purpose of developing a recreation trail.
