Who's representing senior citizens?

Over the past month or so, whether it was in an email from a frustrated Bellingham senior, a coffee shop conversation with two hard-pressed Douglas seniors, a visit to my town hall office hours by a concerned Uxbridge senior citizen, or poignant questions from those at the Webster Senior Center, I've heard a common refrain. Who is looking out for the interests of senior citizens?


Sen. Moore keeps fighting for federal Medicaid dollars

May 7, 2010 ... Continuing his efforts to secure vital federal Medicaid funding for the Commonwealth, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, recently called on his colleagues in Congress to approve an extension of federal backing for Medicaid services through June 30, 2011. Sen. Moore is President Elect of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and Senate Chairman of the Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Health Care Financing.

Sen. Moore, Senate approves safe driving legislation

Bans texting; establishes safe guidelines for seniors

March 3, 2010 ... Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, joined his colleagues in the Senate on Tuesday, in passing safe driving legislation that bans texting while driving and makes it a primary offense. While police officers will be able to pull persons over specifically for texting, Sen. Moore voted against making cell phone calls a primary offense, along with a requirement for motorists to use “hands free” technology. Moore’s colleagues joined and ultimately rejected those proposals from the final legislation.
