Senator Moore welcomes Lance Corporal John Jankowski to the State House

Urges citizens to support our troops

BOSTON, September 9, 2005 - Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) welcomed Marine Lance Corporal John Jankowski and his family to the State House. The senator presented Jankowski, a resident of Dudley, with a Senate Citation for his outstanding contributions during his three tours of duty in Iraq.

During their visit, Jankowski and his family toured the State House and were formally recognized during the Senate session. The visit was also an opportunity for Senator Moore and Jankowski to highlight a new website that allows citizens to voice their support for the troops serving overseas. Moore and Jankowski encouraged citizens to support the troops stationed overseas by sending them a ‘thank you’ message. On June 2, 2002, LCpl Jankowski graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School. Immediately after commencement, he left for Marine basic training in Parris Island SC. At the end of August 2002, he graduated from basic training. After a brief leave, Jankowski participated in advanced Infantry training in North Carolina. In December 2002, Jankowski was stationed in Twenty Nine Palms, CA. 

Since 2002, Jankowski has been on three deployments, first to Kuwait, and then to Iraq at the start of the war. In December 2003 he was deployed to Japan where he stayed for approximately one month before again returning to Iraq. He returned to the United States in July 2004. In January 2005, Jankowski began his third tour in Iraq, finally returning home to the United States on July 30, 2005.

John is the son of John and Janice Jankowski of 8 Eagle Dr. Dudley, MA and the grandson of Steve and Aurora Ozaniak of Mt. Pleasant St. Webster, MA and Franciszek and Aniela Jankowski of Chestnut St. Dudley
