Senator Moore, Becker College to host Nursing Symposium on Oct. 28th |

September 2, 2005 - On Friday, October 28th, a nursing symposium sponsored by Senator Moore and Becker College will focus on addressing the nursing workforce shortage through the legislative process.
In addition, this symposium provides a rare opportunity for an open discussion on the range of approaches to addressing the nursing workforce shortage with national speakers and various organizations. Becker College is a small Independent College located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Becker has recently expanded its nursing program and has instituted a yearly symposium which draws academic, nursing, healthcare professionals as well as local/state/federal policy makers together to address the myriad of nursing issues. This year’s symposium features a keynote address by Senator Moore, a forum discussion featuring representatives of professional nursing associations, nurse educators, practicing nurses and students. Judith Tuori of Becker College, Janet Hale of UMass Graduate School of Nursing, Susan L. Krupnick, president of Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses (MARN) will also be participating. In addition, the symposium includes a segment that specifically focuses on developing a strategy for action in addressing the nursing shortage. The Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) was invited to participate in the symposium but has declined the invitation. This year’s invitees include:
