November 11, 2005 - Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge), Senate Chair of the Legislative Committee on Health Care Financing, has been named “Legislator of the Month” for November 2005 by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS). Legislators are selected by the Massachusetts Medical Society in recognition of legislative leadership in the promotion of health care, health access, public health or the practice of medicine. Senator Moore was previously recognized in 2001 when he was Senate Chair of the Legislature’s Committee on Health Care. “I am honored to again receive the “Legislator of the Month” recognition from the Massachusetts Medical Society,” said Senator Moore. “I have great respect for the work of the society on addressing comprehensive health care reforms in the state.” Founded in 1781, the MMS is the oldest continuously operating medical society in the United States. It was established as a professional association of physicians by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to advance medical knowledge, to develop and maintain the highest professional and ethical standards of medical practice and health care, and to promote medical institutions formed on liberal principles for the health, benefit and welfare of the citizens of the Commonwealth.
