Senator Moore honored by human service providers |

November 21, 2005 - The Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers recognized Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) as its “2005 Senate Legislator of the Year,” according to Michael Weekes, President of the Council. The award was presented to Senator Moore at the Council’s 30th Annual Meeting, the theme of which was, “Milestones: Marking Our Past, Mapping Our Future,” held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi was also honored at the event as the House member “Legislator of the Year.” Senator Moore, who serves as Senate Chairman of the Legislature’s Committee on Health Care Financing, was honored for his leadership in improving access to quality health care for the people of Massachusetts. “I am truly honored by this award because it comes from an organization that represents those who are working on the front lines of care giving who are making life better for our children, the disabled, and the elderly of the Commonwealth,” Senator Moore stated. Senator Moore was nominated by Seven Hills Foundation, a human service provider serving Central and Eastern Massachusetts, in recognition of the Senator’s many activities to improve the lives and health of the developmentally disabled, according to William C. Stock, Vice President for Development. Seven Hills’ mission is to promote and encourage the individual empowerment of all persons with significant challenges so that each may pursue their highest possible degree of personal well-being and independence. Seven Hills works to advance and sponsor rehabilitative, housing, educational, healthcare, social, and related services on behalf of persons with physical, developmental, emotional, or other life challenges with program sites at 130 locations throughout Massachusetts employing over 1800 people.
