Moore meets Head Start and YMCA staff and advocates

Senator Moore with staff and advocates from the Southbridge Head Start and YMCA in the Senate Chambers

February 16, 2006 - Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) recently met staff and advocates of the Head Start and YMCA programs in Southbridge during the Early Education and Care and School Age Programs Advocacy Day. The group was among the many that visited the State House lobbying for state funding to build strong early education programs, the staff needed to run them, and a move toward universal preschool programs.

Head Start is a preschool program that provides services to low-income families. Head Start programs across the state have been supporting families and educating children for 40 years. YMCAs are present in over 200 Massachusetts communities and serve over a half-million people in programs which include early care and education and school age child care.
