| Senate adopts two bill to improve student safety |
|
March 15, 2006 - Two bills co-sponsored by Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) that increases the penalties for violating speed limits in school zones and regulates the speed of school buses carrying children to stay under the 55 mph in school zones were engrossed by the Senate last week. “It is important that we stay focused on the well being of our children,” said Moore. “The passage of these bills shows the Legislature’s commitment to improving student safety. I’m pleased that the Senate engrossed the bill and I trust the House will take it up soon.” Senate Bill No. 1918, filed by Senator Michael R. Knapik (R-Westfield) and Senate Bill No. 1859 sponsored by Senator Steven A. Baddour (D- Methuen) now goes to the House for consideration.
