Moore and Parente honor Hopedale resident at State House

Representative Parente, Michael Rodrigues, Senator Moore at the Great Hall, State House

June 27, 2006 – Yesterday, Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) and Representative Marie J. Parente (D-Milford) honored Michael Rodrigues of Hopedale on being recognized by the Boston Celtics as a “Hero Among Us” during the 2005-2006 Basketball season.

“Michael truly deserves this very special recognition,” said Senator Moore. “He has demonstrated a valuable commitment to making lasting contributions to his community. His dedication and hard work have benefited the lives of many people and making him truly a “Hero Among Us.’”

Rodrigues is the CEO of Triangle, Inc., an organization that helps people with disabilities lead dignified, independent, and economically self-sufficient lives. Under his leadership, Triangle has grown dramatically and is reaching more people through its programs and services. Additionally, Rodrigues is often referred to as the single biggest advocate in the state for expanding the independence of people with disabilities.

"Michael Rodrigues represents the very best example of a local resident who has made both personal and professional contributions to enrich the lives of society's neediest individuals,” said Representative Parente. “His efforts through the work of Triangle, Inc. have helped hundreds of people lead more productive and independent lives."

Senator Moore presented Rodrigues a Senate resolution and a citation at a ceremony at the State House. Representative Parente also congratulated Rodrigues with a House citation.
