September 5, 2006...Today, Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) and Representative Marie J. Parente (D-Milford) delivered a check for $161,000 to the Milford Regional Medical Center. The funds, from the Distressed Provider Expendable Trust, are part of an allocation designed to strengthen local community hospitals.
Both Senator Moore and Representative Parente had been instrumental in providing for the fund's allocation to Milford Regional Medical Center and to other community hospitals.
“I am pleased that Rep Parente and I were able to secure these important funds in the budget this fiscal year,” said Moore, Senate Chairman of the Health Care Financing Committee. “Milford Regional Medical Center has served the residents of Milford and surrounding towns with distinction for many years and these funds will help them continue to do so irrespective of one’s economic status.”
“When we support our local hospitals we ensure that our neighbors and loved ones receive the highest quality care from professional nurses, doctors, staff and administrators,” said Rep. Parente. “I am proud to have played a role in obtaining additional state funding for Milford Regional Medical Center.”
Frank Saba, President and CEO of the Milford Regional Medical Center welcomed the legislators and thanked them for their efforts in obtaining the much-needed funds.
"We are most grateful for the support that both Senator Moore and Representative Parente provide to Milford Regional Medical Center,” said Saba. “These funds that they worked hard to help us obtain from the State’s Essential Healthcare Provider Fund, are important to our Medical Center as we strive to provide the medical care and services needed by the patients and families whom we serve.”
