Moore, Kujawski acquire essential hospital funds

Hubbard Memorial Hospital receives $750,000

September 18, 2006, Boston...During budget debates this year, through the efforts of Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) and Representative Paul Kujawski (D-Webster), Hubbard Memorial Hospital will receive $750,000 in funding through the Essential Community Provider Trust Fund.

“Yet again, working cooperatively with Representative Kujawski, we were able to secure funding for Hubbard in this year’s supplemental budget,” said Senator Moore. “This money is critical for the hospital to continue providing quality service to all residents in the area.”

"Knowing the fiscal constraints that Hubbard Hospital is under, this money could not have come at a better time,” said Representative Kujawski. “Hubbard does a great service to the community and I want to commend the work of Sen. Moore in support of this great hospital."

Acute care hospitals will receive $28.8 million of the $38 million in competitive grants to hospitals and community health centers across the state. In addition to the financial health of the institutions, being the sole providers within the community were key factors in determining who received awards and what amount was given.

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Senator Richard Moore and Representative Paul Kujawski for their efforts and support in the awarding of funds to the hospital from the Essential Community Provider Grant,” said William R. Falkowski, Chief Executive Officer of Hubbard Regional Hospital. “The funds are essential to Hubbard Regional Hospital’s goal of providing healthcare to the communities which it serves.”
