MEDIA ADVISORY - Moore brings Conservation and Recreation Commissioner to district on Sept. 25th

Burrington to tour sites in Sutton and Uxbridge, meet with local officials, present $10,000 check for Wheelocksville Playground

WHY: Senator Moore invited Commissioner Burrington to visit several sites in his district that are either owned/operated by his department of received funding from DCR. The visit will include a visit to Sutton’s Purgatory Chasm State Park to discuss expansion and safety issues in the park. If time allows, officials will also visit Tri-Centennial Park in Sutton which was built with funding from the state.

Following their visit to Sutton, Senator Moore and Commissioner Burrington host a meeting with state and local officials at River Bend Farm. The agenda will include discussions on the development and maintenance of the Blackstone Valley Bikeway, plans for the bridge at Rice City Pond, and other potential projects within the Blackstone Valley Heritage State Park.

Officials will also briefly tour Capron Park in downtown Uxbridge to review ongoing repairs to the park following last spring’s flooding.

At conclusion of the district visit, Senator Moore, Rep. Callahan and Commissioner Burrington will present a $10,000 check to the Wheelocksville Playground Park Association. The funds were provided in the state’s FY 2007 Budget and will be used to upgrade the playground’s equipment.
