| Moore receives Mass Alliance on Teen Pregnancy Leadership Award |
|
October 17, 2006...Senator Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) was honored with a Leadership Award by the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy at their annual conference in Worcester last week. Each year the Alliance recognizes individual policy makers who have made a significant contribution to teen pregnancy prevention services or services for teen parents and their families. In his remarks, Senator Moore discussed the importance of prevention efforts and supporting teens’ healthy decision-making. He also noted the need to support young parents striving to make a good life for their children. “I want to thank the Massachusetts Alliance for the recognition provided to me and to my colleagues in the Legislature for this award,” said Moore. “Obviously it’s important that we address the needs of our young people and particularly that we make sure that when it does come time for them to start a family, they get off on the right foot.” The Alliance selected the veteran lawmaker for their Leadership Award based on his work in health care as the chairman of the influential Health Care Financing Committee and for his commitment to teen pregnancy prevention that has been critical to the rebuilding of the prevention infrastructure that supports Massachusetts teens. “Senator Moore is a stand-out in his tenacious support for teen pregnancy prevention throughout Massachusetts,” said Susan Lovelace, Executive Director of the Mass. Alliance on Teen Pregnancy. “He knew that investing in teen pregnancy prevention can transform lives.” For more information on Senator Moore’s legislation or work in the Senate, log onto www.senatormoore.com |
