Sen. Moore promotes 2007 Washington Summer Scholars Program to college juniors and seniors
January 25, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, encourages college juniors and seniors to take the opportunity to apply for the 2007 Washington Summer Scholars Program sponsored by the New England Council before its deadline of May 15, 2007. The program provides a summer stipend for housing and expenses to undergraduate students who have secured positions to work as interns in the offices of members of the New England delegation. “The selected students selected will have a unique opportunity to enrich their academic experiences with direct participation in the legislative process and public service” said Moore. “This program is a great opportunity for them to gain invaluable working experience and meet many influential people in the nation’s capital.” Ten undergraduate students – at least one from each New England state - will be selected to participate in the scholars program in Washington, D.C. These students will be awarded a $2,000 summer stipend to cover housing and local expenses. This program is open to any junior or senior undergraduate student who is attending an accredited four year college or university in the six-state region. Additionally, candidates must meet all of the qualifications set forth by the New England Council including a 3.0 grade point average, financial need and demonstration of a commitment to the region and to public service. All interested eligible students must have their application postmarked by May 15, 2007 to be considered.
