Moore: Let towns join state insurance pool

February 4, 2007...It's no magic cure-all, but it could be a start. 

That's the word from MetroWest town administrators on a proposal to let municipalities join the state insurance pool, a move that could help officials deal with the spiraling cost of health care for their workers.

State Sen. Richard Moore, D-Uxbridge, has filed legislation to that effect, but his bill has not yet been sent to committee, let alone gone to a vote.

"I would take a wait-and-see approach," Franklin Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting said. "(But) we're always looking for ways to save money.
