February 13, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, recently welcomed administrators and teachers from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School to the State House for the Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) 2007 Commonwealth Compass School recognition ceremony. The senator presented Principal Clifford Cloutier, Superintendent/Director David Papagni, Math Department Chair Karen Powers and English Department Chair Barbara Cote with a Senate Resolution co-sponsored by Sens. Edward M. Augustus, Jr., D-Worcester; Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester and Stephen M. Brewer, D-Barre, in recognition of the school’s 2007 Compass School designation.

Bay Path was one of 38 schools selected as a Compass School by the DOE for its significant improvement in student performance on the MCAS tests in English language arts and mathematics. Bay Path boosted its composite performance index in mathematics by an impressive 14.6 points between 2003 and 2006 and has steadily increased the percentage of their students performing at the proficient and advanced levels over the past several years.
