Civil service examinations for public safety jobs scheduled

February 28, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, informs constituents of a recruitment campaign currently underway for the upcoming entry-level Civil Service Examinations for Municipal Service and MBTA Police Officer, scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2007.

This entry-level public safety examination, administered by the Human Resources Division, is one of the most important examinations that will be conducted in the coming months. The lists that will result from this examination will determine the pool of applicants eligible for appointment to the position of MBTA Police Officer and Police Officer in cities and towns covered by the Civil Service Statute.

Massachusetts Adjutant General to speak at annual PAV Communion Breakfast on March 4th

February 23, 2007...Brigadier General Oliver J. Mason, Jr., Adjutant General of the Commonwealth and head of the Massachusetts National Guard, will be the principal speaker at the Webster-Dudley Polish American Veterans Communion Breakfast on Sunday, March 4th Senator Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, who arranged General Mason’s visit, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The breakfast will be held at the PAV headquarters on Ray Street, opposite the former Massachusetts National Guard Armory beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. Before the breakfast members of the PAV and Auxiliary will attend 8:15 a.m. Mass at St. Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley. Tickets may be obtained at the Post or from members of the PAV and Auxiliary prior to the event.

Sen. Moore meets with Commandant of U.S. Coast Guard

Moore, D-Uxbridge, as co-chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Task Force on Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, met recently with Admiral Thad Allen, Commandant of the U. S. Coast Guard. Joining Sen. Moore and Admiral Allen are Tony Beard, Security Director for the California State Senate, and former New York State Senator Michael Balboni who was recently appointed as Homeland Security Director for the State of New York.

Milford High Varsity Football team honored at the State House

021607-1.jpg (70897 bytes)February 16, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge and Rep. John V. Fernandes, D-Milford welcomed the 2006 Milford High School Varsity Football team to the State House for a luncheon organized by Moore in honor of their championship season. 

The team, led by Head Coach John Dagnese and team captains Bryant Johnson, Brian Flumere, Michael Oliveri and Dan Hulyk, had a regular season record of 10 wins and 1 loss. On Dec. 2, 2007 they were crowned the MIAA 2006 Central Massachusetts/Western Massachusetts Division IA Super Bowl Champions with a convincing 20-0 victory over South Hadley High School. During the lunch, Sen. Moore and Rep. Fernandes presented the team with a Joint Resolution in recognition of their Super Bowl victory.

Sen. Moore to host “Coffee with Constituents” at Nimzee’s in Webster

February 15, 2007... On Wednesday, February 21, 2007, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, will be in Webster to host “Coffee with Constituents.” Constituents are welcome to visit with the senator, have a cup of coffee and take the opportunity to discuss current issues and concerns.

“Coffee with Constituents” will be held at Nimzee’s, 152 Gore Road, Webster from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Constituents who arrive between these two hours will receive a free cup of coffee courtesy of the senator.

Moore welcomes Bay Path administrators and teachers to the State House

Moore, D-Uxbridge, recently welcomed administrators and teachers from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School to the State House for the Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) 2007 Commonwealth Compass School recognition ceremony. The senator presented school officials with a Senate Resolution in recognition of the school’s 2007 Compass School designation.

Moore says Mass. can learn from Belgian health plan

Belgian health care officials could teach the Massachusetts lawmakers they visited today about more vigorous cost negotiations with pharmaceutical companies, Sen. Richard Moore said. Moore, an author of the state’s health care reform law, said the system in Belgium allows the broader freedom of consumer choice that Bay State policymakers envisioned could someday develop if the law is implemented well.

Kid’s Day at the Old State House Museum
