Sen. Moore urges students to participate in poster contest
March 27, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, urges students in grades 1-6 to participate in the 2007 Amusement Safety Poster Contest sponsored by the Department of Public Safety (DPS). “This contest is a way to promote safety and develop an understanding among our children of the need to obey rules and play safe when they get on amusement park rides this summer,” said Sen. Moore. All children in public, private and home-schooled programs and recreation centers are invited to compete for contest prizes in multiple grade levels. Posters will be judged in three groups:
The contest is designed to prompt safety discussion among families as summer outings take place at amusement parks and carnivals. Posters theme must be related to amusement safety in a positive approach and be the original concept of the student. Selected posters will be included in the 2008 Amusement Safety Awareness Calendar produced by DPS. Winners of the statewide competition will receive United States Maturing Savings bonds:
Winners are expected to be announced no later than Monday, June 11, 2007. Posters must be submitted to Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, Amusement Safety Poster Contest, 1 Ashburton Place, Room 1301, Boston, MA 02108 by Friday, May 11, 2007.
