Senator Moore’s website provides assistance to victims of Uxbridge mill fire

July 23, 2007... In keeping residents, business owners, and employees who were affected by the Bernat Mill fire updated with disaster assistance and current information, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, has created a special section on his website at www.senatormoore.com/uxbridge

“This disaster has displaced more than 60 businesses, left roughly 300 employees jobless and a quiet town shaken,” said Moore. “We’re working with federal, state and local officials to provide as much help as we can during these very difficult times. My staff and I will devote a great deal of time and effort to stay in close contact with addressing the needs of the affected communities and we will provide continuous updates and communication through my website.”

Shortly after the fire, emergency officials established a Disaster Assistance Center at the Uxbridge Town Hall to provide a convenient location for those individuals needing direct services. In order to ease congestion at the Center and to provide easier access to vital information, Sen. Moore urges citizens to visit his site as it may offer more immediate assistance.

Visitors can get a variety of information from the Uxbridge Democrat’s website which provides convenient access to the relevant state and federal agencies including information on unemployment insurance benefits, career service counseling and Small Business Administration assistance.

In addition, Sen. Moore’s website will be continuously updated as information becomes available. Constituents, employees or business owners requiring immediate assistance can call Sen. Moore’s office at 617-722-1420
