July 27, 2007... Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Reps. Paul Kujawski, D-Webster, and Jennifer M. Callahan, D-Sutton, welcomed Gary and Judi Vaillancourt to the State House for the 3rd Annual Made in Massachusetts Day. The Vaillancourts are the owners of Vaillancourt Folk Art (VFA) in Sutton. It is one of the last remaining Christmas ornament and collectibles makers in the country. Unlike most Christmas collectibles, which are manufactured overseas, Vaillancourt chalkware figures are still made by hand at the VFA studio at Manchaug Mills in Sutton. Visitors can tour behind-the-scenes as artists hand-paint more than 300 different versions of Santa Claus and Father Christmas figures. More than 30 companies participated in this year’s “Made in Massachusetts Day,” which is organized by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development Department of Business Development. For more information on Vaillancourt Folk Art visit their website at www.valfa.com. |
