Milford Housing Authority receives $50,000 in state funds
August 1, 2007...he Milford Housing Authority has been awarded $50,000 in technical assistance and emergency capital improvement bond from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) according to Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge and Rep. John V. Fernandes, D-Milford. The funding award is to supplement the housing authority’s own capital reserves to repair concrete and masonry at their 667-2/3 Birmingham Court development. “I’m pleased DHCD awarded the housing authority with this imperative funding for their project,” said Moore. “This financial support will help the town maintain its commitment to provide a suitable living environment and improve the lives for their low and moderate income residents." "The state made the right choice in awarding this grant to the Milford Housing Authority,” said. Fernandes. “We need to preserve the housing infrastructure owned by the Authority. It is a high priority, and this grant is a demonstration of the state's commitment to helping the town accomplish that goal." The $50,000 amount is based on DHCD’s preliminary estimate of the costs associated with the project. The Department will continue to work with the housing authority to adjust both the scope of the project and the award amount as the project progresses. |
