Dudley Girls Softball team celebrates their championship season at the State House

083107-1.jpg (107069 bytes)August 31, 2007... Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Rep. Paul Kujawski, D-Webster welcomed the Dudley Little League Girls Softball team to the State House for a luncheon in recognition of their championship season. 

The team, coached by Tom Miller and Louis Grzyb with assistance from Team Manager Chris Downer, won the 2007 Little League Softball State Championship on July 21st with a dramatic 2-0 victory over Winchendon in the best of three series. During the luncheon, Sen. Moore and Rep. Kujawski presented the team with a Resolution in honor of their achievement.

Moore, Alicea host Southbridge’s Cops and Kids Program at State House

Students wish Governor a happy birthday

Geraldo Alicea, D-Charlton, welcomed Southbridge Police Sergeant José Dingui and about 60 students from the Cops and Kids Program in Southbridge to the State House on July 31st. The legislators invited the group to Boston for a tour and luncheon catered by Jean’s Catering of Milford. While at the State House, the group got a surprise visit from Governor Patrick and wished him a happy 51st birthday.

Heart healthy

August 28, 2007...The word of the day at Milford High School yesterday was "prevention."

Over the course of the day, representatives from Andover-based HeartScreen America tested 47 students with an electrocardiogram, blood pressure reading, body mass index calculation and heart health questionnaire.

State Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, came out to the high school yesterday to show encouragement for the screenings, he said.

"It's a good preventative measure," said Moore, the chairman of the Health Care Financing committee. "Paul Mazzuchelli and the School Committee, it's outstanding that they're being proactive."

Senator, advocates raise concerns over proposed health 'safety net'

August 22, 2007….An advocacy group today thanked state regulators for making last-minute tweaks to rules governing a state pool that pays for health care services to the uninsured and underinsured, but remained opposed to charging low-income individuals for certain deductibles and fees if they use hospital and community health center services, saying that would defeat the purpose of the so-called Health Safety Net.

Moore submits testimony on the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy's proposed regulations for health safety net eligible services

August 22, 2007...Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, chairman of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing and one of the architects of the state's new health care reform law, submitted written testimony to Division of Health Care Finance and Policy Commissioner Sarah Iselin on her agencies proposed regulations for "eligible services" under the state's new health safety net, formerly the Uncompensated Care Pool (UCP).

Op-Ed: Everyone benefits from strong public schools

After all, it was here in Massachusetts that the first school in America (Boston Latin), the first college (Harvard), and the first public library (Franklin) were opened. The Massachusetts State Constitution was the first written constitution in history to declare that it is the “duty” of the government to provide education for everybody – a radical idea at the time.

His work experience spans from the press room of Los Angeles City Attorney Rockford Delgadillo to retail sales at a jewelry factory outlet on Cape Cod.

Moore asks Division of Banks to assist businesses affected by the Bernat Mill Fire in Uxbridge

August 2, 2007....Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, sent a letter to state Banking Commissioner Steven Antonakes to ask that his agency assist those businesses affected by the Bernat Mill Fire in Uxbridge in working out appropriate payment plans for repaying outstanding loans or mortgages recognizing the difficulty that some will have making payments in the short term.

Milford Housing Authority receives $50,000 in state funds

August 1, 2007...he Milford Housing Authority has been awarded $50,000 in technical assistance and emergency capital improvement bond from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) according to Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge and Rep. John V. Fernandes, D-Milford. The funding award is to supplement the housing authority’s own capital reserves to repair concrete and masonry at their 667-2/3 Birmingham Court development.

Fernandes, D-Milford, are asking municipal officials and interested individuals to attend an informational session to find out whether the local option to provide health insurance coverage to employees through the Group Insurance Commission is right for their towns. The session will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2007 from 9:00-11:00am in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room at the Milford Town Hall, 52 Main Street, Milford.
