Sen. Moore and Rep. Fernandes announce Cultural Grants for area croups

Grants aid a variety of cultural activities benefiting 10th Worcester District

September 26, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Rep. John Fernandes, D-Milford, recently announced that the Massachusetts Cultural Council has awarded local grants totaling $16,440 for the cultural councils in the communities of Milford, Mendon and Hopedale. The grants will be utilized to celebrate the arts, humanities and sciences through a variety of programs available to the general public.

“These local grants play a significant role in our community’s cultural and economic life,” said Moore. “It’s the local volunteers and councils who really make this system work. They make limited resources go as far as possible, and they make the tough decisions about which projects should be supported. Thanks to them, the arts, sciences, and humanities are part of everyday lives in every community across the state.”

“I am pleased to announce these grant awards that will be used at the local level to promote cultural, artistic and educational programming,” Fernandes stated. “The councils routinely provide outstanding programs that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.”

Rep. Fernandes joined with Sen. Moore to celebrate the positive and enriching programs that the cultural councils in Milford, Mendon and Hopedale promote on an annual basis.

Rep. Fernandes concluded: “I will continue to do everything possible to aid the incredible work that is done by our local cultural councils.”
