Sen. Moore and Rep. Fernandes announce grant award for Hopedale police department

$16,950 in State Funding Provides Needed Repairs at Police Station

October 12, 2007...Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Rep. John V. Fernandes, D-Milford, were pleased to announce that the Hopedale Police Department was successful in receiving $16,950 in grant funding to help repair a number of structural deficiencies at the station. The goals of the grant include improving building security and public safety, increasing energy efficiency, and facilitating access by disabled persons.

Two million dollars in state funds from the Executive Office of Public Safety were made available to cities and towns that actively competed based on the strength of their applications and the pressing needs in their communities.

“I am pleased that the Executive Office of Public Safety has awarded the Hopedale Police Department with this important funding,” said Moore. “It is essential that our police departments have adequate facilities to aid them as they serve and protect our communities and citizens.”

“I was proud to lend my full support for the grant application submitted by the Hopedale Police Department,” Fernandes added. “They were very persuasive in their argument that the funding would provide a more secure, accessible and energy efficient environment at the station.”

Sen. Moore and Rep. Fernandes will continue to work together to explore all funding opportunities to help the communities they serve upgrade their public safety services.
