State award $1.3million in grants to local hospitals and community health centers

October 16, 2007... Through the efforts of Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge and Sen. Edward M. Augustus, Jr., D-Worcester, local area hospitals and health centers will receive $1.3 million in funding through the Essential Community Provider Trust Fund in Fiscal Year 2008.

“Although I am disappointed the amount awarded was significantly less than what each facility requested, I am reassured that we were able to secure critical funding this fiscal year,” said Moore. “Our local hospitals and community health centers have been providing impeccable services and programs to meet the needs of our service area. With this additional funding, they will be able to maintain their commitment to the community by further developing a stronger facility to provide the best patient care.”

One-time grants were awarded to the following facilities in Central Massachusetts and in the Southern Worcester County including:

  • Harrington Memorial in Southbridge $100,000
  • Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster $500,000
  • Milford Regional Medical Center $100,000
  • Family Health Center of Worcester $250,000
  • Great Brook Valley Health Center in Worcester $350,000

The funding is part of the Essential Community Provider Trust Fund which objective is to improve providers’ abilities to serve populations in need more effectively and efficiently through community-based care; clinical support; disease management; primary care; care coordination; and pharmacy management services.
