Moore votes to preserve housing for low-income, disabled and elderly residents

Moore votes for incentives to jump start public infrastructure improvements 

March 28, 2008 ... During Thursday’s formal session, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and his colleagues in the Senate approved legislation to help municipalities and developers funding public infrastructure projects that will create thousands of jobs for the Commonwealth. The bill improves an existing mechanism to finance work on streets, sidewalks, water and sewer lines, storm drainage facilities and street lights.

Moore continues fighting for 40B reform

March 28, 2008 ... During Thursday’s formal session, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, continued his efforts to reform affordable housing laws in the Commonwealth, particularly Chapter 40B. During debate on H 4594, An Act Financing the Production and Preservation of Housing for Low and Moderate Income Residents, Sen. Moore spoke in favor of a bi-partisan amendment to increase the percentage of affordable units in a 40B development from 25 percent to 33 percent.

$5.26 billion budgeted; cities and towns held harmless despite revenue shortfall

March 20, 2008 ... During today’s formal session, the Senate approved and finalized an increase in state aid to cities and towns in the FY09 budget, according to Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge. The increase of $223 million represents an increase of 4.43 percent over last year’s budget in the three major categories of local aid – Chapter 70 funding for public schools, lottery aid and additional assistance.

Moore testifies on malpractice reform

March 11, 2008 ... During Tuesday’s Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Dr. Peter Smulowitz, an emergency room physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bedford, testified about the findings they discovered in a report entitled, “Restoring Value and Trust in our Health Care System”.

Model would establish early disclosure and compensation programs in Massachusetts

March 11, 2008 ... During a hearing of the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, released a report drafted by his office that highlighted the need for medical malpractice reform in Massachusetts. The report was drafted Dr. Peter Smulowitz, an emergency room physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and Saint Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, who served as a policy fellow in Sen. Moore’s office.
