Moore honors local student

April 10, 2008 ... During a recent awards ceremony in the State House, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, presented a Senate Citation to Stephanie Nelson of Oxford, who was honored as part of the Massachusetts Letters About Literature Program.

Letters About Literature is a national reading and writing promotion program of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, sponsored in partnership with Target Stores. This year, 59,000 students nationwide in Grades 4 through 12 wrote letters to authors whose books made a difference in their lives. Massachusetts ranked third in the nation for participation in 2008, writing over 3,600 letters that came from nearly 50% of all cities and towns and represented every region of Massachusetts.
