April 30, 2008 ... During a recent visit to the State House, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Rep. Paul Kujawski, D-Webster, presented representatives of the Polish American Congress with a resolution commemorating the efforts of Polish Americans throughout the United States and especially in the Commonwealth. Sen. Moore and Rep. Kujawski are both active members of the Legislature’s Polish Caucus, which has most recently advocated for a Visa Waiver Program for citizens of the Republic of Poland, among other causes. In a letter dated August 13, 2007, Sen. Moore wrote to President Bush concerning the Visa Waiver Program, stating “the Polish people and their government consider themselves good friends and reliable allies of the United States.” The Polish American Congress, an “umbrella” organization, is a federation of over 3,000 Polish American organizations and clubs, ranging from national fraternal benefit societies, such as the Polish Women’s Alliance, and others, including veteran, cultural, professional, religious and social associations, with aggregate membership of over one million. Currently, the Polish American Congress is represented in 23 states. |
