September 29, 2008..It seems like every disease has a month or week designated to raise awareness about a condition so that people understand, obtain treatment, and perhaps donate to seek a cure. Even though I am deeply involved in health care, I didn't know about Celiac Disease until a few years ago when my late mother-in-law was diagnosed.

Moore, medical experts join forces to
prevent fall injuries among seniors
September
23, 2008... In a time when seniors
are faced with heating, food, and prescription medicine costs, serious
injuries to our elders are often unanticipated and overlooked as
plausible threats to their well-being and health. Falls and fall-related
injuries are the leading cause of injury-related deaths and
hospitalizations among Massachusetts' senior citizens-an alarming
statistic for many residents of the Commonwealth.

Sen. Moore participates in Inter-American Legislative event in Mexico
September
18, 2008...Debates about solutions to global warming, energy, food prices, immigration, and the spread of HIV/AIDS are heard often in the chambers of state legislatures throughout the United States. Indeed, legislators serving other countries in the Western Hemisphere are actively discussing many of the same concerns shared by their U.S. counterparts.

| Medicine wins when doctors say no
By Dr. Victoria McEvoy
Boston Globe
September
8, 2008 ... I need to come clean about something. I did take the little black doctor bag.
Upon completing medical school, all the graduates were offered a free bag from a drug company. Since our class was full of semiradicals from the antiestablishment, war-hating tumultuous '60s, taking a free gift from "the man" was no small violation. But it was a cute little bag, and I had worked really hard to get it.
