February 25, 2009, Hopedale and Mendon, MA ... In an effort to enhance connections between the communities of the Worcester & Norfolk District and Beacon Hill in Boston, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, visited the Towns of Hopedale and Mendon this Wednesday for the second of many “District Days” that the Senator will be holding over the next few months. Packing his schedule for the day were visits to Rebecca’s Place Too in Mendon, Hopedale Junior Senior High School, Atria Draper Place in Hopedale, Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon, and the Mill Street Bridge site in Hopedale.

Patrick and members of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in ceremonially signing into law the “Collaborative Drug Therapy Management Bill.” The legislation, which was authored by Moore, allows pharmacists to engage in collaborative drug therapy management under the supervision and auspices of a doctor.

We Cannot Afford to be Penny-Wise and People-Foolish!

February 11, 2009...Recently, Governor Deval Patrick submitted his budget proposal to the Legislature for the budget year that begins next July 1. Despite his having cut the current budget by about $1 billion last fall and another $1 billion this month, the state faces a budget gap of more than $3.1 billion. In other words, the taxes and other revenues the Commonwealth is expected to receive will fall short of the anticipated cost of maintaining current services by that amount.

Sen. Moore Donates Part of Cost of Living Raise to Webster- Dudley Boys and Girls Club

February 10, 2009...Sen. and Mrs. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, have always tried to support local causes that help people. For many years, Sen. Moore has advocated for state and charitable funding to support at-risk youth, especially through programs such as the Webster-Dudley Boys and Girls Club. Consequently, when the Senator visited the club this week to announce a new grant which he helped the club to receive, Moore added a modest donation out of his own pocket as well.

State Awards $200K for Hubbard Hospital in Webster 

February 5, 2009...Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Rep. Paul Kujawski, D-Webster, are announcing that Hubbard Hospital in the Town of Webster has been awarded $200,000 from the state’s Essential Community Provider Trust Fund. In total, the Trust Fund awarded hospitals approximately $32.6 million in FY09 grants across the state.

Clark University’s HERO Program Garners Accolades from Sen. Moore

February 4, 2009...As an alum of Clark University, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, was delighted to hear of an environmental program entitled “HERO-CM,” which is currently being offered at his alma mater. HERO is Clark University’s undergraduate and graduate “Human-Environment Regional Observatory-Central Massachusetts” program, and offers in-depth course work with human or environmental geography, landscape ecology, land-use planning, statistics and remote-sensing. The program, which has been in place now for several years at Clark, was recently awarded a grant of $360,000 by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

February 2, 2009... After being sworn into office for his eighth full term as the state senator for the Worcester and Norfolk District, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, has highlighted his health care priorities for 186th assembly of the Massachusetts General Court. Updating an original health care package entitled, “A Healthy Commonwealth 2012,” Sen. Moore, the Senate Chairman of the Health Care Financing Committee, today released “A Healthy Commonwealth 2012: Progress Made…Challenges Ahead.” The revised health care agenda sets forth a comprehensive proposal that spells out specific health care goals for the state—built on the successes of past health care initiatives ushered in by Moore.
