T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, attended the 2009 Legislative Summit of
the National Conference of State Legislatures, in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. As the newly-elected President-Elect of the
organization, Sen. Moore played a key role in several panels and events that
were held throughout the week, in the city that birthed the Declaration of
Independence and our Constitution. During the week, Sen. Moore
kept a journal of his daily activities.

Massachusetts lawmaker becomes next in line to lead nation’s state legislators
Moore chosen as NCSL President-Elect
July 24, 2009...Meeting in Philadelphia this week, the nation’s state legislators unanimously elected Massachusetts State Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, to be President-Elect of the National Conference of State Legislatures
(NCSL). Moore, who has served as Vice President for the past year, is now in line to be NCSL’s 38th President in 2010-11. NCSL is the premier national organization that represents the Nation’s 7,382 state legislators.

July 22, 2009 ... Could a National Health Reform Law prove costly to Massachusetts? That is the question being raised by a Special Senate Committee on National Health Reform. The national proposal being pushed in Congress by President Barack Obama is largely modeled on the success of the landmark Massachusetts health reform law passed in 2006, as well as a companion effort to improve health quality and contain rising health costs, which was approved by the state legislature last year. Nation’s state lawmakers gather in birthplace of the Constitution

As state lawmakers from every state and many foreign countries gather for a “Legislative Summit” in Philadelphia this upcoming week, at least one state legislator from Massachusetts will be playing a prominent role. Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, is currently Vice President of the National Conference of State Legislatures
(NCSL), but he will also be a panelist and moderator for several key programs during the annual meeting’s program.

Sen. Moore presents book on industrial history of the
Blackstone Valley to State Librarian
July 15, 2009 ... Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, recently presented a copy of
Landscape of Industry: An Industrial History of the Blackstone Valley, by the Worcester Historical Museum, to the State Library’s Head Librarian, Elvernoy Johnson, at the State House. The book, which features a Forward from Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-MA, describes the history of one of the most important regions in the nation that contributed to the Industrial Revolution of the late 18th century. The book previously had a ceremonial unveiling on Tuesday, June 7th, welcoming Sen. Moore, Congressman Richard Neal, MA-2, and Congressman James McGovern, MA-3.

Sen. Moore presented with 2009 Health Care
Leadership of the Year Award
July 15, 2009 ...
Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, was presented by the New
England Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (NE HIMSS),
with the “Health Care Leadership of the Year Award,” for the
Senator’s dedication to health reform, health information technology,
and overall health advocacy in the Commonwealth and at the national
level. This is the eighth year NE HIMSS has bestowed awards upon health
care leaders across New England. A formal ceremony will be held in
December, where Sen. John Kerry, D-MA, will join Sen. Moore in being
honored. HIMSS was created in 1961 and is the health care industry's
membership organization exclusively focused on providing global
leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT)
and management systems for the betterment of health care.

New product would provide significant premium relief to
small businesses & individuals
July 14, 2009 ... With rising health care costs placing an increasing burden on Massachusetts small businesses and their employees, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, Sen. Michael O. Moore, D-Millbury, and Rep. Harriette L Stanley, D-West Newbury, today unveiled a legislative package that would create a new product – the Affordable Health Plan – that could reduce the cost of premiums by as much as 22 percent for the small group/nongroup market.

Sen. Moore testifies in support of local infrastructure bill
July 14, 2009 ... Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, testified in support of legislation that will allow the Town of Sutton to move forward in replacing a well water system with a town water distribution system through the Aquarion Water Company. After years of deterioration and corrosion, the well water pipes that service the school complex area on Boston Road have been releasing unsatisfactory levels of lead and copper into the schools’ water.

Special Senate Committee on National Health Reform
hears expert testimony
July 8, 2009 ... Today, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, welcomed expert testimony from legislative, administrative, and private business officials before the newly-created Special Senate Committee on National Health Reform. Sen. Moore, Chairman of the committee, as well as the Legislature’s Committee on Health Care Financing, sponsored the special committee’s creation with Senate President Therese Murray, D-Plymouth, who was received today as the first to provide testimony. The special committee has been entrusted with following national health reform developments while providing an accurate depiction of the Massachusetts health care system.

at July 4th road race

Sen. Moore’s team has participated in the Independence Day classic for the past eight years, always highly visible in the field with their red and white jerseys.

Aloisi Jr. today at a press conference announcing that the Executive Office of Transportation has awarded a Public Works Economic Development
(PWED) grant worth almost $1 million for a lighting and intersection improvement project in downtown Webster.
