Sen. Moore celebrates Polish-American Vets’ 50th
June 15, 2010 ... Senator and Mrs. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, joined with the Polish-American Veterans and Auxiliary of Webster and Dudley to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Post this past weekend. They joined with those attending the anniversary for Mass at St. Joseph’s Basilica followed by dinner at the PAV quarters on Ray Street.
(L-R)Stephen
Penkala, State Commander of the Polish American Veterans of
Massachusetts and Post Commander of the Webster-Dudley PAV, Sen. Richard
T. Moore, and Colonel Robert Golosov.
During his remarks, Sen. Moore thanked the post members for the years of support and hospitality extended to him and for their service to the Webster-Dudley communities, and especially for local veterans. He also presented a legislative resolution commemorating the 50th anniversary, on behalf of Rep. Paul Kujawski, D-Webster, and himself.
Recalling that the keynote speaker, Colonel Robert E. Golosov, USA (Ret.) had spoken of the current threat from Islamic extremists whose goal is to replace western laws and traditions with Sharia Islamic law, Sen. Moore spoke of the historic efforts by Polish leaders to fight the spread of Islam five centuries earlier. The Senator then presented Post Commander Stephen Penkala, who is also PAV state commander, with a painting of the historic Battle of Vienna. The painting features the feared Polish Winged Hussars cavalry led by Polish King Jan III Sobieski routing the Ottoman Turks at Vienna
