Sen. Moore & Attorney General Coakley announce
comprehensive legislation to combat human trafficking
February 28, 2011 ... Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, joined with Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and a coalition of Legislators, District Attorneys, law enforcement, and victim advocates to announce the filing of An Act Relative to the Commercial Exploitation of People; comprehensive legislation that would for the first time, establish human trafficking for sexual servitude or labor as a crime in Massachusetts. Massachusetts is currently one of only five states without human trafficking laws.

Sen. Moore fights for seniors and
disabled services
February 25, 2011 ... Speaking to a packed hearing room with more than 500 seniors, disabled and program advocates, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, called on the Patrick Administration to restore cuts to the state's Adult Day Health budget. Calling the cuts "shortsighted" and "penny-wise and pound-foolish," Moore, who is Senate Chairman of the Legislature's Health Care Financing Committee, told state officials that cutting adult day health programs would leave 11,000 seniors and disabled without the ability to stay in their homes.

Lawmakers, advocates blast proposed cuts to
adult day health

If the Patrick administration’s proposed cut to adult day health service rates is adopted, Joseph Rizzo, owner of Accord Adult Day Care Center in Webster, says he will have to make a choice: eliminating the health care benefits for his 35 employees or shutter his business, leaving 55 elderly residents without care.

States should not file for bankruptcy

February 14, 2011 ... In a recent Associated Press story appearing in local newspapers, the pros and cons of allowing states to file for bankruptcy was discussed. It was noted that big companies like General Motors, some cities, and individuals and small businesses file for bankruptcy. Last year alone, some 1.5 million Americans filed to gain relief from creditors.

February 10, 2011 ... In the first major legislative action of the new Legislative term, Sen. Richard T.
