Sen. Moore salutes Southbridge resident deployed with National Guard unit to Afghanistan
March 29, 2011 ... Sen. Richard T. Moore,
D-Uxbridge, bid farewell to PFC Victor E. Martinez-Pietri of Southbridge, a member of the 182nd Regiment, 1st Battalion, Massachusetts National Guard Unit, that has deployed to Afghanistan. Sen. Moore participated in the deployment ceremony on March 27th at the Conte Forum of Boston College honoring members of the 182nd as they leave for a year's service in Afghanistan.
"I am honored to call Victor a friend, and I am so very proud of him and his commitment to serve his country," Sen. Moore stated.

Sen. Moore fights for lower electric bills
Requests Cape Wind/National Grid agreement be reconsidered
March 22, 2011 ... Senator Richard T. Moore,
D-Uxbridge, believes that individual consumers and the state economy will be harmed by National Grid's deal to purchase high cost electric power from the Cape Winds project. In a letter to the Massachusetts Public Utilities Commission, the veteran lawmaker requests "that the Department reconsider its approval of the Cape Wind/National Grid power sales agreement in view of the significantly reduced purchase prices for wind-generated electricity submitted by NSTAR and other utilities.

MA Life Science Center wants your ideas!
March 18, 2011 ... The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, recently announced the launch of an open solicitation for life-sciences related capital projects beginning in Fiscal Year 2013. The Center will invest in high-potential economic development projects across the state in order to create jobs and make a significant contribution to the state's life sciences ecosystem. The Center has allocated up to $25 million in capital dollars for this initial solicitation.

Sen. Moore urges Governor Patrick to join "Secure Communities"
March 18, 2011 ... In the wake of the Brockton murder of a young mother and child, in which an illegal alien who formerly resided in Milford is the prime suspect, Sen. Richard T. Moore has called on Governor Deval Patrick to join the federal "Secure Communities" program. "If Massachusetts had been participating in 'Secure Communities,' it's possible that Luis Guaman would have been identified and apprehended by the authorities," Moore explained.

The nation's leading bi-partisan organization representing America's 7,328 state legislators, is calling on Congressional budget writers to deliver a responsible federal budget for the balance of this fiscal year as well as FY 2012 which begins October 1, 2011. In a letter to the Congressional Budget Committee chairmen and ranking minority members, the officers of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), proposed five fundamental principles that should guide federal budget development.

March 11, 2011 ... Testifying in support of the proposed reconstruction of Routes 12 and 20 in Oxford and Auburn, Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) urge Massachusetts Highway Department officials to move the project forward. Revitalization and redevelopment are Webster’s top priorities
March 7, 2011 ... Redevelopment and revitalization were the common themes heard throughout Sen. Richard T. Moore’s, D-Uxbridge, Webster Listening Tour recently.
The popular breakfast spot, East Main Café set the tone for the day as Sen. Moore met with one constituent after another, discussing the issues affecting the people of Webster. From the revitalization of the Webster-Dudley Historical Commission, the need for accessible computer training programs to educate and retrain those affected by the global economic crisis, to the importance of educating our children in the context of a global marketplace and the absolute necessity for restoring funding for adult day health services – it was an extremely productive morning.

But receiving safe health care, whether for yourself or a loved one, is not a commodity or a guarantee. Each year medical errors and hospital acquired infections cause death or injury to over one million people! Medical error has countless causes, infinite costs, and ever-evolving solutions. If Massachusetts is to contain rising health care costs without harming quality of care, we must all remain committed to patient safety!
