Team Moore runs strong in July 4th road race

July 6, 2012 ... In the 63rd running of the Leonide J. Lemire Road Race, the team of runners sponsored by Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, delivered a solid performance with three of the four placing in the top twenty finalists. The annual 4.9 mille road race, sponsored by the Leonide J. Lemire Post 6055 of Southbridge is one of the oldest continually run road races in the United States. It began in 1950 when 17 runners competed and has grown to more than 150 entrants. The race is now administered by the Central Mass Striders running club.

Team Moore member Matt McDonald of Blackstone placed 8th, Captain Russ Trottier of Sutton was 12th, Justin Ryan of Southbridge came in 17th, and Sean Hanlon of Northbridge was 112th. VFW Post 6055 Commander Ron Proulx, who was among the runners himself, presented the Commander’s Trophy to Team Moore for their consistent participation and support of this America’s Birthday Classic over the past twelve years.
