Moore reminds constituents of upcoming voting registration deadline
Forms now available online August 10, 2012 ... With only weeks left before the upcoming State Primary Election on Thursday, September 6th, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, is reminding all eligible residents to register to vote. The deadline to do so is Friday, August 17th. "Voting is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of our American democracy that every eligible citizen should exercise," said Sen. Moore. "In order to do so, however, you must be registered. Thanks to the hard work, innovation and diligence of Secretary of State Galvin, and our town clerks, it is now even easier to do so," he continued. To access a voter registration form, residents may visit any registration location, including a local Town Hall or Registry of Motor Vehicles, to pick up a printed copy, or download and print one below. Registrants may also request a form be mailed to them by calling 617-727-2828 or 1-800-462-VOTE, or e-mailing a request to elections@sec.state.ma.us. Once completed, applicants may send the form to, or drop it off at, their local Town Clerk's office. Individuals should receive a confirmation notice in 2 to 3 weeks. Those who do not receive a confirmation notice, or wish to confirm their voter registration status, are asked to contact their local Town Clerk to verify their voting status. Only a person who is: 1. a US citizen, 2. a resident of Massachusetts, and 3. 18 years old on or before Election Day, may register to vote before the registration deadline set forth for an upcoming election. Voters who have moved within the same city or town, are asked to notify their local election office of their new address in writing. Relocating to a new city or town requires re-registration. |
