Massachusetts Senator Richard T. Moore
                                                December 2007
Dear Friend,

Holiday times are busy with buying, spending, shipping, and mailing.  Being busy both at home and work results in little time to review burdensome credit records and billing statements until after the hectic season calms down a bit.  Unfortunately, your busy season is also the busy season for identity thieves.  For this reason, I've included various tips on how to protect your identity and your home during the holidays.  In addition these helpful tips, I've also included updates on what me and my colleagues in the Legislature have been up to. I hope you find this latest installment of my monthly newsletter helpful, and I wish you and your family a healthy and happy holiday.

Sincerely,
Senator Richard T. Moore

We have a lot to be thankful for during this holiday season

As the Legislature concludes its formal sessions for yet another calendar year, there is certainly a lot for which the people of our district may be thankful. My colleagues and I in the Senate have been quite busy passing various beneficial pieces of legislation.

In time for the holidays, Senate updates consumer-friendly gift certificate legislation

November 26, 2007...With the holiday shopping season upon us, Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and his colleagues in the Senate recently voted to enhance the existing gift certificate law by establishing consumer protections, including a $300 fine for violations of the statute, which makes gift certificates redeemable at full face value for a period of seven years without deductions or service fees. The Senate bill treats electronic gift cards the same way as long as they are not for use with multiple, unaffiliated sellers.
