| Internships
Expectation and duties
The most basic
requirement is that interns have tact,
patience and the ability to interact with
people. Applicants should also have strong
writing and verbal communications skills, the
ability to prioritize work on several projects
simultaneously and a working knowledge of word
processing software. Above all, interns are
expected to be responsible and politically
aware.
Generally
speaking, interns will assist staff in the
following areas:
- CLERICAL,
GENERAL OFFICE TASKS: Primarily,
interns will open, sort and dispense mail,
answer phones, and run errands.
Admittedly, this may not be the most
exciting part of the job but it is crucial
to the efficiency of the office.
|
- LEGISLATIVE
RESEARCH AND SUPPORT: Interns will provide
support to the legislative staff by
attending committee hearings, briefings
and other events. Interns may also be asked to
perform in-depth research and analysis of
legislation.
|
- CONSTITUENT
SERVICES: Interns will assist with
constituent requests for information or
assistance.
