Introduction
The pages that follow are intended as an introduction to the legislative branch of our state government for students in middle school. In a few years, when you reach your eighteenth birthday, you will be able to register and vote for public officials, including your state senator and your state representative.
However, even before you are
able to vote, members of the
Legislature in any state are your voice in the operations of state government. Your state legislators are interested in your views no matter how old you may be. You should get to know your state senator and state representative and follow their voting on issues of concern. To help you become an informed citizen, it is important that you understand something of the way the legislature is organized and how it operates.
